About the Role:
This is a Full Time ongoing position at 80 hrs FTE/hours per fortnight within the ICT department. The Application Analyst REDCap serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) dedicated to the ongoing maintenance, support, and optimisation of the Royal Children's Hospital's REDCap application and other clinical research data platforms.

 

Classification for this position will range from Grade 6 Year 1 AO61 – Grade 6 Year 5 AO65 (FTE base annual salary $110,479.20 - $111,051.20, pro rata for part time and plus superannuation).

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Responsible for the first point of contact for REDCap and other related research systems, overseeing their lifecycle from implementation and configuration to ongoing maintenance, support and upgrades
  • Ensures systems meet the standards for data integrity, privacy, and interoperability, especially in the context of multi-site studies and regulatory frameworks
  • Facilitates user access, permissions, and training, ensuring researchers and support staff can efficiently utilise application features.
  • Troubleshoots complex technical issues, coordinates with vendors or external support teams, and manages escalations to ensure minimal disruption to research activities
  • Conduct analysis and investigate possible solutions to resolve staff queries regarding the system.
  • Provides expert guidance on data capture, storage, and export processes, supporting researchers in designing and deploying surveys, forms, and databases within REDCap and other research applications.
  • Train users as part of progressive application rollouts.

 

What you’ll achieve:

  • Promote a customer-focused culture by ensuring all Service Desk interactions are timely, professional, and aligned to organisational service standards
  • Build strong relationships with ICT customers and act as a functional escalation point to resolve issues and maintain customer confidence
  • Provide advice, guidance and support to line managers and staff and ensure compliance with policy and procedures

 

Your skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or relevant industry experience
  • Experience in the clinical research sector, with an understanding of research ethics, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Extensive experience in administer, support and using research data management systems, particularly REDCap
  • Proven ability to provide technical support, troubleshoot complex issues, and manage change in a research or healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement, particularly in a systems environment.
  • Experience developing user guides and documentation.

About the Department:

The Royal Children’s Hospital’s ICT Service Desk operates within a complex and highly diverse computing environment, supporting thousands of users and numerous IT systems essential to patient care. As Service Desk Team Leader, the role centres on cultivating a cohesive team and overseeing day-to-day operations—including ticket management, vendor coordination, and staff rostering—to ensure a central, customer-focused point of contact for ICT issues. Responsibilities include providing both Level 1 and Level 2 technical support, escalating and routing requests as needed, and maintaining high standards of troubleshooting and incident resolution. The Team Leader also drives service excellence through strong stakeholder relationships, clear documentation, and compliance with organisational policies, working collaboratively across ICT teams and with a broad spectrum of hospital staff from end users to senior executives.
