Family Healthcare Support Worker 

  • $38.34 - $69.01 per hour (shift-dependent) + salary packaging
  • Full job-training provided

Various locations across Victoria – current availabilities in the following Council areas; Casey, Dandenong, Glen Eira, Kingston, Monash, Knox, Yarra Ranges, Brimbank, Melton, Wyndham, Hume, Whittlesea and Hobsons Bay. 

 

About the RCH’s Family Healthcare Support Team

The Family Healthcare Support team is an evolving service working with the Complex Care Hub to coordinate the out-of-hospital support for eligible families. The team provide support to children with complex medical needs in their home environment or other appropriate settings. Care is delivered independently, often in the absence of parents in line with the child's specific care plan. This care plan is developed in collaboration with the family, their medical specialists, and other members of the RCH team.

 

What You’ll Do

As a successful Family Healthcare Support Worker you will:

  • provide tailored care based on the patient’s needs outlined in their care plan, which may include personal care, specific medical interventions, giving tube feeds and medications
  • maintain the safety and well-being of the child as outlined in the child specific training manual and report any concerns to the parents
  • support children to access activities, education, and community outings, if appropriate
  • and be responsible for the safe management of equipment during shift times

Infection, Prevention and Control Compliance

It is a requirement of RCH employment that you be vaccinated against Influenza annually for Category A and B roles, in compliance with any public health orders in place at the relevant time, unless you have a medical exception in line with those public health orders, which has been accepted by The Royal Children’s Hospital.  Applicants will be required to provide their Australian Government Immunisation History Statement, as it is a requirement of the RCH to collect, record and hold vaccination information. It is also a requirement of your employment that you comply with any direction given by The Royal Children’s Hospital that you be vaccinated against, or prove immunity to, any other disease, unless you have a relevant exemption, and offers of employment are conditional on successful completion of background checks including reference checks.
