The Role: 

Registrar in Paediatric Intensive Care

 

The Royal Children’s Hospital seeks applications for full time Registrars commencing 4th of August 2025 for both 6 and 12 month appointments.

 

With 250 beds, and approximately 26,000 inpatients and 150,000 outpatient visits each year the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne offers a full range of clinical and investigative services for primary, secondary and tertiary care.  The PICU has 30 beds and sits adjacent to the cardiac ward and Theatre Suite.  A simulation centre along with state of the art technologies such as intra-operative MRI are offered at RCH.

 

The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit is split between cardiac and general units and admits approximately 1800 patients per year.  The successful applicants will join a team of 32 Registrars and 18 Specialists offering a full range of ICU services.   The successful applicants should possess a background in paediatric anaesthesia or critical care.  This post will suit applicants wishing to broaden/consolidate current experience in critical care.  To be successful you will possess excellent clinical skills in paediatric intensive care, be able to lead and function as part of a PICU team, and be committed to the development of paediatric intensive care medicine.

 

We are seeking Registrars at the following levels:

 

Junior – Four years of clinical experience plus post-graduation qualification (written part 1 FRACP, part 1 FANZCA, Primary CICM etc)

 

Senior – Six years of clinical experience, including two years of ICU

 

You must specify in your covering letter if you are applying for a Senior or Junior registrar position and which area of PICU you would like to work in (1,2or 3 is acceptable), if more than one, please place in order of preference:

  2. General PICU and PETS
  3. Cardiac and General PICU and PETS
