Pharmacology Fellow (HM27-HM30)

About the Role:
This is a full time/ fixed term position to cover Parental Leave 4th August 2025 – 2nd August 2026, at 86 hrs per fortnight within the Department of General Medicine.
We are also happy to consider applications for those interested in 6 months only, either 4th August 2025 – 2nd February 2026 or 3rd February 2026 – 1st August 2026.
This role will provide an advanced trainee in paediatrics with experience and training in Clinical Pharmacology. Depending on seniority and experience, there is the opportunity for the Fellow to work as a Junior Consultant, in a supervised capacity. There are excellent opportunities for clinical experience, teaching, research and administration.
Classification for this position will range from HM27 – HM30
What you’ll achieve:
- Provision of clinical care in the inpatient setting (clinical pharmacology consults and general medicine patients), including liaison with other general medicine inpatient teams; sub specialty teams; nursing and allied health teams.
- Provision of clinical care in the outpatient setting (weekly drug allergy clinic and general medicine clinic) including liaison with RCH outpatient units and external providers.
- Supervision of therapeutic drug monitoring and inpatient antibiotic allergy de-labelling program.
- Monitoring patients regarding correct use of prescribed medications, toxicology and adverse drug reactions.
- Involvement in RCH Drug Usage Committee (DUC), toxicology committee, medication safety committee and adverse drug reaction committee, as well as other quality assurance programs.
Your skills and experience
- MBBS or equivalent
- Registration with AHPRA and eligibility for medical registration within Victoria
- Advanced Trainee in Paediatrics with exams completed
- International Medical applicants need to have a score of 7 or above in all bands IELTS test.

About the Department
The Department of General Medicine is one of the largest departments at the RCH, and includes sub-specialty units of Rheumatology, Immigrant Health and Clinical Pharmacology, as well as providing leadership and staffing to the 24 bed Short Stay Unit. The department provides an inpatient service managed by 23 consultants attached to 4 medical teams, seeing over 6500 admissions per year, in addition to providing outpatient services including General Medicine, Continence, Upper Airways, Emergency Review, Chronic Fatigue and sub-specialty clinics.
