About the Role
This is a Fixed Term Full or Part Time position (s) at 1.0 eft per fortnight for 12 months. Job share and part time roles available with FTE negotiable. Total available 1.0EFT RCH and 0.2EFT at coHealth within the Department of General Medicine. Please indicate your preference for EFT in your cover letter.
The Immigrant Health Fellow(s) provide clinical care and education in paediatric refugee health and to contribute to policy in this field. You will be part of the Immigrant Health Service at RCH, providing i) outpatient care to children of refugee background and children seeking asylum, ii) consultations to inpatient units as required, iii) education to internal and external colleagues and iv) other work on research and policy based on interest/training needs. You will be supervised with weekly meetings for support in clinical care, and collaborative work on education, research and policy. Preference will be given to those in their final 2 years of study.
Classification for this position will range from HM27 – HM30
What you’ll achieve:
- Provide clinical care in Immigrant Health outpatient clinics.
- Assist with referral triage, test result follow-up and GP / other practitioner liaison.
- Participate in committees and sector meetings, including the RCH cultural diversity in Mental Health working group
- Responsible for updating the refugee research clearing house; compilation of reporting for Department of Health and Immigrant Health annual report
Your skills and experience
- MBBS or equivalent
- Registration with AHPRA and eligibility for medical registration within Victoria
- RACP (or equivalent) exams (clinical and written) completed
- All International Medical Graduate applicants will need to have a score of 7 or above in all bands IELTS test, and a current visa.

About the Department
The Department of General Medicine is one of the largest departments at RCH. At any time, a total of 108 staff (Senior Medical, Junior Medical, Nursing, and Administrative) work in the Department. The Department of General Medicine has a range of sub-specialty interests in addition to General Paediatrics and is committed to the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care. There are 3 subspecialty units within it, including Rheumatology, Refugee/Migrant Health and Clinical Pharmacology. All units report to the Director of General Medicine.
