About the Role:

 

This is a Fixed Term Part Time position at 56 hours per fortnight as a Patient Support Officer until 30/06/2027. In this role, you willl be the first point of contact for parents and carers. This is a pivotal role where you'll play a key part in ensuring a smooth and efficient admissions process for our young patients.

 

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Assisting with transition work to care closer to home for select patients.

  • Maintaining accurate waitlists for elective surgeries and procedures, prioritising patients based on clinical need.

  • Admitting patients for surgery, ensuring all paperwork is complete and liaising with families on the day of admission.

  • Working closely with medical and nursing staff, the Hospital Bed Manager, and various departments to coordinate admissions and bed allocation.

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient information in our electronic medical record system (Epic) and Patient Administration System (IBA).

  • Providing exceptional customer service to families, addressing their questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.

 

Your skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a healthcare admissions or waitlist management role.

  • Possesses excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for patient-centred care.

  • Is a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.

  • Is proficient in using computer applications, including experience with electronic medical record systems a plus.
