About the Role:
This is a Fixed Term Part Time position from February 2026 - October 2026 at 0.6 FTE working Wednesday-Friday, within the Nutrition and Food Services department.
This position provides clinical education and support under the guidance of dietitians and HEN technician to undertake a range of support activities to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the dietetic department. The AHA predominately works in the Home Enteral Nutrition space; providing feeding pump trainings to ensure timely discharge and ordering of HEN supplies for patients. Additional support roles including assistance with the indirect calorimeter, provision of simple educations, food diary assessment and general administrative tasks may also be required.
Classification for this position will be AHA Grade 3, IN30 (Full-time equivalent base salary $65,754 per annum pro-rata, plus superannuation).
What you’ll achieve:
- Support the clinical work of the dietetic clinicians by working collaboratively with the dietitians, HEN administrative officer and manager to maintain and improve the clinical environment and delivery of service
- Support the effective and efficient operation of the dietetic department by providing feeding pump training to patients to facilitate timely discharge
- Ensure that appropriate equipment / stock is available for clinician use by maintaining requirements and ordering stock for clinical practice
- Communicate with other team members to ensure that tasks are undertaken effectively and that patient needs are met
- Ensure that equipment is maintained in a suitable condition for use by cleaning of designated equipment when required. Reporting faults and damage to equipment as appropriate
Your skills and experience:
- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Major in Nutrition & Dietetics) or relevant other degree
- Proficient computer skills
- Experience in working directly with paediatric patients as an Allied Health Assistant
- Previous experience in a hospital setting

About the Department:
The Department of Nutrition and Food Services at The Royal Children's Hospital incorporates the clinical dietetic service, the Main Kitchen that caters for inpatient meals and the Central Formula Room that produces formula, enteral feeds and fortifies expressed breast milk to meet the nutritional needs of patients.
