Associate Nurse Unit Manager (YW11 – YW12) – Butterfly Ward, Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

About the Role

There a several fixed-term, part-time positions to cover Parental Leave for up to 12months, at 48-72hrs per fortnight within the Butterfly Ward – Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

You will be responsible for supporting the Nurse Unit Manager to provide essential management and leadership to the multidisciplinary team within the Butterfly Ward – NICU. You will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality patient and family-centred care, and contributing to the operational efficiencies within NICU and the wider organisation. You will be responsible for coordinating and managing essential resources that support patient care and flow, as well as the NICU team.

Classification for this position will range from YW11 – YW12 (base salary $112,174.4 - $115,949.6 per annum, plus superannuation)

 

What you’ll achieve:

  • Supporting the provision of care that is safe, high-quality, and evidence-based for patients with complex needs.
  • Advocating for patients and their families to ensure that appropriate consideration is given to their rights and preferences, whilst providing care that is aligned with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and respect for diversity.
  • Collaboration with the multidisciplinary team involved in caring for NICU patients, as well as staff/departments within the wider organisation and external referral centres to provide high-quality care and facilitate patient flow and access.

 

Your skills and experience

 

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP)
  • Relevant clinical experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing

 

  • Desirable:
    • Relevant Post Graduate Qualification
    • Leadership / management experience

About the Department

The Butterfly Ward at the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) is a 35-bed neonatal unit comprising of both intensive care and high dependency beds and receives up to 800 referrals per year. Butterfly Ward is a Level 6b NICU which provides complex medical and surgical care to neonatal patients primarily referred from Victoria, Tasmania, and Southern New South Wales.
