About the Role:
This is a Permanent Full-Time position at 80 hours per fortnight within the Digital Health Division at The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH).
As Chief Clinical Information Officer, you will provide strategic clinical leadership for the safe, effective and innovative use of digital technologies across the hospital. You will act as the primary bridge between clinicians and digital health teams, ensuring that the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), clinical decision support tools and emerging technologies are designed, implemented and optimised to support high-quality paediatric care.
Working closely with the Executive Director Digital Health, clinical leaders and senior operational leaders, you will lead clinical engagement in digital transformation, champion adoption of new technologies, and ensure digital solutions support safe, efficient and family-centred care. You will also contribute to the hospital’s digital strategy, driving innovation across virtual care, predictive analytics, artificial intelligence and digitally enabled models of care.
Classification for this position is under the Medical, Nursing or Allied Health awards as appropriate:
- Medical: As per the Medical Specialists (Victorian Public Health Sector) (AMA Victoria/ASMOF) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2022 – 2026
- Nursing: RN61 as per Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) Single Interest Employer Agreement 2024 - 2028
- Allied Health: Director level equivalent as per Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Agreement 2021 - 2026 or Medical Scientists, Pharmacists and Psychologists Victorian Public Sector (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021 - 2025
What You’ll Achieve:
- Provide senior clinical leadership for the design, implementation and optimisation of digital health systems, including the EMR
- Champion clinician engagement and adoption of digital technologies, advocating for paediatric-specific clinical requirements
- Lead clinical governance for the EMR and related clinical systems, ensuring safety, quality and regulatory compliance
- Support development of innovative digitally enabled models of care including virtual care, remote monitoring and digital care pathways
- Contribute clinical insight to the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies such as AI-enabled decision support and predictive analytics
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of clinical and IT professionals, driving a culture of innovation, collaboration and excellence
- Act as a translator between technical and clinical workforces, ensuring digital initiatives deliver meaningful clinical value

Your Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Current clinical registration with AHPRA (or eligibility for professional association membership for self-regulated professions)
- Significant clinical experience within a hospital environment
- Demonstrated experience in clinical informatics, digital health and EMR systems
- Proven ability to influence clinicians and lead change at scale
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and quality improvement
- Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to align technology initiatives with clinical outcomes
- Experience in digital transformation and reimagining clinical ways of working
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts across technical and clinical audiences
Desirable:
- Degree, postgraduate qualification or equivalent in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Public Health or Health Administration
- Experience with data analytics, artificial intelligence or digital innovation in healthcare
- Proven change management experience at enterprise level

Other Requirements:
- Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
- Valid Working with Children Check (must be maintained throughout employment)
