The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) is seeking a highly organised, proactive, and ethically minded Clinical Ethics Coordinator to join the Children’s Bioethics Centre (CBC). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a nationally recognised paediatric bioethics service within a leading academic hospital.
In this pivotal role, you will support the CBC team to deliver the Clinical Ethics Service and the clinically focused components of the Ethics Education program. You will coordinate referrals, maintain accurate records, manage administrative processes, and support the team to meet key performance indicators and reporting requirements. Your work will directly enable timely, effective ethics support for clinicians, young people and their families in complex care situations.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Service Coordination & Administration:

Manage end-to-end administration for clinical ethics referrals, ensuring timely workflow and accurate record-keeping

Maintain the CBC referrals database and support transparent documentation processes

Prepare rosters, organise meeting logistics, distribute agendas and minutes

Oversee day-to-day office administration including equipment ordering, record maintenance, and desk allocation for visitors
Team & Operational Support:

Work collaboratively with clinical ethicists and CBC staff, responding proactively to requests

Contribute to team meetings and support equitable workload distribution

Work independently with general direction, seeking guidance where appropriate
Stakeholder Engagement:

Build positive working relationships with clinicians and other users of the Clinical Ethics Service

Respond promptly and professionally to enquiries and requests
Quality & Reporting:

Support continuous improvement by reviewing administrative and program processes

Assist with internal reporting and KPI monitoring

Ensure confidentiality, privacy, and compliance with document management and cyber-security standards

Contribute to ongoing quality activities and education initiatives
About You:
You will bring a blend of ethics knowledge, professionalism, and strong organisational capability.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:

Tertiary qualifications in bioethics or a related discipline, or several years’ relevant experience

Understanding of clinical ethics and how clinical ethics services operate within hospitals

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Key Skills & Attributes:

Advanced understanding of bioethics (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded)

Strong organisational, planning, and time-management skills

Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clinicians and diverse stakeholders
