About the Role
This is a Permanent position part time 64 hours per fortnight within Rosella ward, The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
We are looking for an expert nurse with advanced theporetical and clinical skills, who will provide professional clinical leadership to support the management of patients requiring ECLS and Centrifugal short ter Ventricular Addist Device (C-VAD). The RCH ECLS Program is the largest paediatric ECLS service within Australia, based withing Rosella, providing cardiac and respiratory life support to critically ill infants and children. The CNC-ECLS works collaboratively with the ECLS medical director to provide leadership and governance of the ECLS program. Supporting the delivery of high-quality clinical care and timely access to ECLS for children within Victoria and interstate (Tasmania, South Australia and Northern Territory). The CNC leads, develops and coordinates the interdisciplinary education of the ECLS team and is responsible for enabling the aqcuisition of relevant knowledge, skills and team training of the ECLS team.
Your skills and experience:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Profession al practice Portfolio.
- Postgraduate qualification in critical care nursing.
- Masters qualification or willingness to undertake
- Minimum 5 years experiences in Paediatric Intensive Care nursing

About Rosella ward, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Rosella - Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Ward provides intensive care services to critically ill infants, children and young people for Tasmania, Victoria, and southern New South Wales. The RCH delivers the state-wide paediatric, Infant and Perinatal Emergency retrieval (PIPER) service and is a National Funded Centre for paediatric heart transplantation, paediatric liver transplantation (in collaboration with Austin health), Norwood procedure and staged surgical palliation for hypoplastic left heart syndrome and paediatric lung transplant (in collaboration with Alfred health). PICU is a 24-hour service that operates 365 days a year.
Our PICU services include:
- Speciality Critical Care Practice for both Medical and Surgical Children
- Specialist Paediatric Critical Care Trauma Services
- Pre- and post-operative care for Cardiac Surgery including Heart Failure, Ventricular Assist Device and Transplant
- Pre- and Post-Operative Care of Organ Transplantation
- Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Service
