Consultant Allergist Immunologist Immunopathologist

About the role:

 

This is a part time oingoing position at 0.65 FTE within the Allergy & Immunology Department and Laboratory Services.


The Consultant Allergist Immunologist Immunopathologist is responsible for conducting outpatient allergy & immunology clinics as well as participating in the on-call roster and other departmental activities and diagnostic evaluation of RCH patients with immune disorders and supervision of the RCH diagnostic immunology laboratory. This will include evaluation, diagnosis, and management of RCH patients with allergic and/or immunologic disorders in accordance with departmental procedures.  This may also involve supervision of paediatric registrars, paediatricians and/or advanced immunology allergy trainees attending clinics.

 

What you'll achieve:

 

  • Outpatient care involves care of patients referred to Allergy and Immunology Specialist Clinics and clinical liaison with patients, families, and caregivers in the community.

  • Immunopathology involves contributing to high quality diagnostic immunology laboratory service to RCH, The Royal Women’s Hospital and referring laboratories and being responsible for efficient and accurate reporting of immunology laboratory results

  • Day Medical care involves supervising Allergy and Immunology medical procedures.

  • Participate in the On-Call roster as required.

 

Skills and experience:

 

  • Demonstrated knowledge, practical experience and expertise in the diagnostic workup of primary immunodeficiency disorders

  • Demonstrated experience in immunopathology and paediatric allergy & immunology
  • MBBS (or equivalent)
  • FRCPA in Immunopathology
  • Be registered as a specialist medical practitioner with AHPRA and be a Fellow of the RACP.

The Department:

 

The Department of Allergy & Immunology provides secondary and tertiary outpatient and inpatient care for children with allergic and immune disorders.  This includes children with food, drug, insect sting and latex allergy causing moderate to severe allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis), eczema, asthma and hayfever in addition to children with Primary Immune Deficiency and Immunedysregulation.

Laboratory Services provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic testing and clinical and consultative services to The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) and The Royal Women's Hospital (RWH), as well as to other service providers
