The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a full time, fixed term [September 2026-February 2027] dynamic Dentist to join the department of Dentistry. A Dental Resident is required to provide inpatient and outpatient dental care to children with a broad range of medical conditions and special needs. The successful candidate will work with both the senior and junior dental registrars in the paediatric dental outpatient clinic with professional support from Consultant Paediatric Dentists within the Department. This position is designed for dentists with a special interest in managing patients with complex medical needs, multidisciplinary care and dental trauma.

 

 You will be responsible for:

· Planning and providing comprehensive dental care to eligible patients in an outpatient setting.

· Work with junior medical staff members in managing eligible inpatients and outpatients in clinics, wards and under general anesthesia.

· Coordinate dental care in consultation with the medical or multidisciplinary team where necessary for patients requiring treatment under general anaesthesia, combined procedures with other surgical units and outpatient clinics.

· Manage patients who present through the emergency department for dental trauma and/or facial cellulitis.

· Participate in continuing education within the RCH and Dental Department and participate in staff meetings.

 

You will have:

· Demonstrated capacity to work harmoniously and collaboratively within a small team

· Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills

· Proven ability to leading by example in providing the highest quality clinical care to children and young people.

· Dental Registration with AHPRA
