About the Role:
This is a Fixed Term, full-time position to cover Parental Leave from 31/08/2026 until 29/08/2027 at 80 hours per fortnight (1 EFT). This role includes 0.5 EFT working with patients and their families in the Complex Clinical Obesity Assessment Service, 0.3 EFT Neurodevelopmental Medicine inpatients and outpatients and 0.2 EFT Home Enteral Nutrition including NDIS participants. It is a predominately outpatient based workload although some inpatient work will be required.
Internally, this position will be known and/or referred to as: Dietitian (Grade 2).
Classification for this position is governed by Award 18 - Medical Scientists and will range from AJ1 (Grade 2, Year 1) – AJ4 (Grade 2, Year 4) depending on experience, from $94,478.80 to $106,906.80 per annum, plus Superannuation).
What you’ll achieve:
- Deliver excellent evidence-based practice dietetic assessments and interventions for patients in the Complex Clinical Obesity Assessment Service, Neurodevelopmental Medicine and HEN, including a roster for weekend service
- Provide child centred, family focused care through partnership with parents/ families
- Possess well-developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills and attention to detail with the ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders
- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient and department needs are addressed effectively
- Participate in quality improvement and research projects
- Deliver educational sessions to students, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals through lectures, workshops, and diverse learning formats
Your skills and experience:
- Meet the eligibility criteria for full membership of Dietitians Australia
- Experience in clinical paediatric dietetics including enteral feeding and NDIS (minimum 2 years)
- Experience working with young people with living with obesity

About the Department:
The Department of Nutrition and Food Services incorporates the clinical dietetic service, the Main Kitchen that caters for inpatient meals and the Central Formula Room that produces formula, enteral feeds and fortifies expressed breast milk to meet the nutritional needs of patients.
Dietitians provide services to inpatient medical/specialty units and to specialist outpatient clinics and are available to consult on all aspects of infant and child nutrition including assessment, recommendations for nutritional management, implementation of therapeutic diets, enteral feeding and tube weaning within the hospital setting. We are a registered NDIS Nutrition service to provide disability-related nutrition supports to eligible patients. We also support a large number of families on our Home Enteral Nutrition Program.
The Nutrition and Food Services Department sits within the Allied Health and Digital Directorate in the organisational structure at the Royal Children’s Hospital

Other requirements:
- Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain
- Compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure
