Dietitian – Grade 1
Full time, Fixed term role for 18 months commencing February 2026

The Role:
This is a full time, fixed term (18 month) rotational role within the Nutrition and Food Services department .
You will be responsible for the provision of high-quality nutritional care to paediatric patients and their families within the inpatient and outpatient setting. This rotational role will rotate 6 monthly through the following clinical areas:
- Cardiology
- General medicine
- Diabetes
- Oncology
- HEN
- Other specialties as required.
This role is a training position, hence it is suitable for early-career dietitians. New graduates with appropriate experience in paediatrics may also apply.
Regular clinical supervision in the form of one-on-one supervision and group mentoring is provided as part of this program. Additionally, participation in the Royal Children's Hospital's Certificate of Paediatric Nutrition & Dietetics will be included if not already completed.
What you’ll achieve:
- Work in a well supported team, with regular supervision to improve paediatric dietetic skills
- Provide nutritional care to paediatric patients (inpatients and outpatients) and nutritional support across a variety of specialist/medical units
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including food service and formula room staff, to ensure patient and ward needs are addressed effectively
Classification for this position with range from AI4 – AI7 Grade 1 Year 1 to Grade 1 Year 7 ($72,566 - $92,123.2) per annum plus superannuation
Your skills and experience:
- Eligibility for full Membership of Dietitians Australia
- Eligibility for the Accredited Practising Dietitian Program
- Minimum postgraduate degree Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent

About Nutrition and Food Services:
The Department of Nutrition and Food Services at The Royal Children's Hospital incorporates the clinical dietetic service, the Main Kitchen that caters for inpatient meals and the Central Formula Room that produces formula, enteral feeds and fortifies expressed breast milk to meet the nutritional needs of patients. We are a large clinical department with over 2000 patient encounters monthly and approximately 50 dietitians.
