The Hospital:

The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) provides secondary and tertiary care to children and young people across the northern and western suburbs; specialist paediatric healthcare to the children of Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and parts of South Australia; and is the designated state-wide provider of services including paediatric trauma, rehabilitation and forensic medicine. As a quaternary centre for complex cardiac surgery and organ transplantation, the RCH cares for the sickest children from around Australia.

The Role: 

We are looking for experienced Mental Health Clinicians (Grade 3 Psychologist, Social Worker, Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, or Grade 4 Psychiatric Nurse) to provide 7-day-a-week after-hours (evening and overnight) psychiatric triage, risk assessment, crisis management, safety planning and brief treatment to mental health consumers presenting to the RCH Emergency Department (ED).  Clinicians will be working in an exciting multidisciplinary environment under the direction of on-call Consultant Psychiatrists.  The successful candidates will also be expected to liaise with, and advise the ED on the management of mental health presentations, provide support to families and carers, contribute to research and evaluation activities, and facilitate mental health promotion and education.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Significant experience in acute paediatric mental health
