About the Role
This is a Fixed Term Full Time position at 1.0FTE/80 hours per fortnight within the Pharmacy and Infectious Diseases Departments for 3 years.
You will be working collaboratively with the Antimicrobial Stewardship consultant and Pharmacy to build a new comprehensive Antimicrobial Stewardship program. This will include being responsible for the effective implementation and uptake of the Electronic Medical Record AMS module.
What you’ll achieve:
- The development and implementation of an innovative and evidence-based service that improves use of antimicrobials, patient safety and infection treatment outcomes
- Proactively work with multiple stakeholders to meet the relevant National Safety and Quality Healthcare Service Standards and Clinical Care.
- Effective leadership of a team, including another Pharmacist and specialist Pharmacy technician.
- Demonstrated financial sustainability of the Pharmacy positions through reduction in medication costs to ensure continuity of the service at the end of the fixed-term period.
Classification for this position will range from Grade 4 Year 1 – Grade 4 Year 5
Your skills and experience:
- Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent, and registered to practice as a pharmacist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency & name appears on the register of the Pharmacy Board of Australia
- At least 10 years’ experience in hospital pharmacy, including areas of high antimicrobial usage such as oncology
- Post-graduate qualifications relevant to the role
- Previous experience in AMS activities and education
- Experience in cost reduction activities or budget responsibilities

About The Pharmacy Department
We are a team of around 70 staff including pharmacists, technicians, and administrators. Our supportive and collaborative teams include Outpatients, Children’s Cancer Centre, Clinical Pharmacy, Clinical trials, and Medicines Information, HiTH and Sterile Services and the Pharmacy Business Unit. The position will work very closely with the Infectious Diseases Department to ensure the success of the new AMS program.
