The Role:

 

An exciting opportunity is available for a Mental Health Clinician (OT2/P2/SW2/SP2/RPN3) to work with the Infant Mental Health Program of the Hospital Consultation-Liaison team. The role involves providing high quality tertiary mental health care for infants and pre-schoolers who are inpatients of medical and surgical wards, and those with severe chronic illness requiring frequent hospital admissions. The role also includes consulting to and liaison with medical units and wards about the mental health care of infant and pre-school hospital patients. 

 

You will be required to:

  • Provide infant mental health assessment, diagnosis, and interventions. 
  • Liaise with medical units, hospital wards and the emergency department about the management and support of patients with infant mental health presentations, and families where perinatal mental health concerns co-exist. 
  • Respond to clinical crises and urgent clinical matters as directed. 
  • Deliver secondary consultation and educational services to hospital staff as required 
  • Work collaboratively with other clinical disciplines within the team to provide high quality inter-disciplinary care. This may involve sharing care of cases with colleagues and/or more junior staff for modelling and guidance.
