About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse to undertake a Permanent Full Time positon at 1 FTE (80 hours) per fortnight within the Kelpie ward, providing Adolescent, Oncology and Rehabilitation Care.

This role is an integral part of our leadership team in the Division of Medicine, and will oversee the operations, clinical and professional governance for the ward. In this role you will effectively lead and manage the team in Kelpie ward to provide comprehensive care and services to address the clinical, physical, social and psychological needs of patients and their families. You will be responsible for enabling a positive work environment and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient and family centred care, that contributes to the RCH's operational excellence framework. You will have support of the General Manager, Divison of Medicine and provide governance to nursing practice and support a culture of growth and performance for all the staff.

 

Classification for this position will be NM11, NUM Level 2 (FTE base salary $136,344 per annum, plus superannuation).

 

What you'll achieve:

  • Provide active and visible leadership to support safe, high quality, evidence-based nursing care
  • Management of unit / ward / service operations to ensure ongoing financial sustainability and service delivery efficiencies by maintaining the budget, driving process improvements and implementation of strategic initiatives
  • Ensure completion of regular performance evaluations to provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional growth and development of nurses within the team
  • Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and build capacity within the team to recognise and undertake improvement opportunities
  • Act as a positive role model and uphold professional conduct

 

Your skills and experience:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP)
  • Management / leadership experience
  • Relevant post graduate qualification or working towards
  • Masters qualification is desirable
  • Education or training in leadership and management is desireable

About the Department

Kelpie Ward is a 32-bed unit providing developmentally appropriate inpatient care and treatment for children and adolescents aged 5 to 20 with both acute and chronic health conditions. The ward operates under a multidisciplinary model that encompasses medical care, emotional support, advocacy, and education. It integrates the clinical expertise of Adolescent Medicine, the Children's Cancer Centre, and the Paediatric Rehabilitation Service to deliver comprehensive and coordinated care.
