About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nursing Education Coordinator- Critical Care to join our newly established Nursing Education leadership team. This is one of four new Nursing Education Coordinator positions, reporting to the Director of Nursing Education, and aligned to one of the following clinical education streams:

  • Medicine & Ambulatory
  • Surgery
  • Critical Care
  • Learner Programs

 

This role presents an exciting opportunity to influence, lead and support contemporary nursing education across a dynamic paediatric healthcare environment at the RCH.

The role is a Permanent Full-Time position at 1.0 EFT / 80 hours per fortnight within the Nursing Education Department.

The Nursing Education Coordinator provides leadership in the planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence‑based nursing education aligned with organisational priorities, professional standards and workforce needs. Working in close partnership with clinical leaders, educators and multidisciplinary teams, the role supports the development of a capable, confident and future‑focused nursing workforce.

As the Nursing Education Coordinator, you will work collaboratively across education and clinical teams while maintaining a key portfolio focus aligned to your designated stream.

Classification for this position will range from XB1 - XB2 classification codes (FTE base salary $130,582.4 to $133,686.8 per annum, plus superannuation)

 

What you’ll achieve:

  • Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of high‑quality nursing education programs aligned with contemporary practice
  • Coordinate education strategies that support workforce capability, safety, quality and professional development
  • Collaborate with operational leadership, educators and other key stakeholders to identify learning needs and priorities
  • Support the professional development of nurses across the clinical continuum, including early career to advanced practice roles
  • Contribute to organisational education governance, project work and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Apply best‑practice educational principles, innovation and digital learning approaches
  •  Champion interprofessional learning in practice

 

Your skills and experience

 

You are a passionate nursing education leader with strong clinical capability and the ability to influence and inspire others. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to advancing nursing practice through education.

You will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with postgraduate qualifications in nursing (preferably Masters)
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification (preferably Masters) in education, leadership or a related field (or working towards)
  • Extensive clinical experience relevant to specialty stream
  • Demonstrated significant experience in nursing education, professional development or clinical education leadership within a health care setting
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate education programs aligned with organisational and workforce priorities
  • Strong communication, relationship‑building and organisational skills
  • A commitment to evidence‑based practice, innovation and continuous improvement

 

Critical care stream specific criteria:

  • Demonstrated clinical and/or education experience within critical care environments (e.g. ICU, HDU, ED or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of high acuity nursing practice, advanced assessment and clinical decision making
  • Experience designing and delivering education for complex, high risk clinical environments
  • Ability to support advance practice education, and postgraduate practice pathways
