About the Role

This is a Casual role within the Acute Occupational Therapy Service, suitable for an experienced Paediatric and/or Acute Occupational Therapist who would like to make a difference to the outcomes of children. Providing flexible days/hours , we offer a unique opportunity to consolidate knowledge, skills and experience within a tertiary paediatric setting whilst balancing your own family and/or life commitments. We will work with you to ensure that your caseload aligns to your experience and clinical interests. Areas of inpatient service delivery may be mixed across orthopaedics/ surgery, acute neurosciences, general medicine and specialty medicine. Outpatient paediatric services may include specialist assessment clinics, specialist tertiary clinics and hand therapy clinics.

 

What you'll achieve:

  • Provide age-appropriate occupational therapy assessment and intervention in accordance with best practice and prioritisation guidelines
  • Work in a flexible manner and participate in other duties consistent with skill level (as allocated) to ensure adequate cover and clinical care, equitable workload distribution and equity of access to occupational therapy services
  • Achieve and maintain competency in relevant skills in line with departmental requirements specific to role

 

Classification for this position will range from VF6-VF9 Grade 2 Year 1 to Grade 2 Year 4 (Hourly rate: $XX - $YY)

 

Your skills and experience:

  • Recognised graduate-entry qualification in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate)
  • Registered to practice as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Eligibility for membership with Occupational Therapy Australia
  • Clinical experience and competence as an Occupational Therapist in paediatrics or an acute tertiary hospital.

About the Occupational Therapy department

The Occupational Therapy department is within the Ambulatory Services. We provide inpatient and outpatient services for infants, children, adolescents with a wide range of medical conditions. Our team works closely with families, carers, community services and other health care professionals to ensure the best occupational therapy outcomes for our patients
