About the Role
 

This is a Permanent Full Time position within the Operating Theatres department for a Grade 3 or 4 Operating Theatre Technician.

 

As an Operating Theatre Technician you will be considered a valued member of our professional health care team. You will provide important support for our patient’s, families and guardians under the direction of nursing, anesthetic and surgical staff. We deliver great patient care within the operating theatre suite including such examples as setting up the theatre environment, transporting patients and equipment, patient positioning, cleaning and maintaining theatre equipment and environment.

 

What you'll achieve:

  • You will ensure that all aspects of OH&S and infection control principles are adhered to and integrated into all work practices
  • You will contribute to an environment of multidisciplinary teamwork, maintaining a flexible approach to working in all specialised areas of the RCH operating suite
  • You will test, use and maintain equipment and technology that is required for surgery, and which falls within the technicians responsibility
  • You will prepare and maintain the operating room environment to ensure safe and efficient operating during surgery and subsequent procedures

 

Your skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience as a theatre technician
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Certificate 3 in health services assistance Operating Theatre Technician.
  • Certificate 4 in health services assistance Operating Theatre Technician (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
