About the Role:

This is a part time Fixed Term position (4 days per week over a 19 week period) within the Cardiology Department of the Royal Children's Hospital.  The potential for a full time role over this period is highly likely in addition to the possibility of an ongoing role at the end of the fixed term period.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual who is keen to share their knowledge for the advancement of our clinical program and to contribute positively to the departmental culture in a world leading paediatric Cardiology centre. In addition to your primary role, you will be responsible for providing clinical supervision when required (dependant on experience and knowledge), but also be afforded the opportunities for continuing professional development. 

The primary role involves working in our busy paediatric Echocardiography Laboratory undertaking specific duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Performing detailed paediatric cardiac ultrasound examinations of the highest quality
  • Completion of a detailed and accurate preliminary report resulting from the examination
  • The opportunity to assist/conduct 3D cardiac ultrasounds, transoesophageal echocardiography, contrast studies, strain/strain rate imaging
  • Provide hands on training to Cardiac Physiologists new to the field of echocardiography, and also to Cardiology Fellows commencing their Fellowship
  • Participate in a variety of research studies
  • The opportunity to work in other areas of the department such as Arrhythmia and/or the Cardiac Catheterisation laboratory

Your Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in a health science discipline
  • Be registered with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) as an Accredited Medical Sonographer, with current enrolment in a certified CPD program
  • An ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • An understanding of the need to deliver high quality care to our paediatric patients and their families
