About the Role:
This is a full-time on-going role within the Cardiology Department of the Royal Children's Hospital.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is keen to learn and grow in the field of Cardiac Physiology. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to share their knowledge and individual skillsets for the advancement of our clinical program, and to contribute positively to the departmental culture in a world leading paediatric Cardiology centre. You will be be working within a multidisciplinary team consisting of highly skilled individuals specialising in all aspects of paediatric Cardiology. In addition to your primary role, you will be involved in all areas of the department and you will also be afforded opportunities for continuing professional development.
The primary role involves working in our busy Arrhythmia department undertaking specific duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Performing resting ECGs on inpatients and outpatients. Alert clinical staff to adverse clinical findings
- Fit/remove/analyse holter monitors. Alert clinical staff to adverse clinical findings
- Prepare patients and assist the Cardiology Fellows with supervised exercise stress testing
- Undertaking administrative duties as required
Depending on previous experience, provision to work in other aspects of Cardiac Physiology will be afforded the successful applicant and will be highly desirable. These area include, but are not limited to:
- Performing detailed paediatric cardiac ultrasound examinations using a range of echocardiographic modalities in our busy outpatient department
- Completion of a detailed and accurate preliminary report resulting from the examination
- Interrogation and testing of implantable cardiac devices including simple and complex pacemakers, defibrillators and loop recorders
- Haemodynamic monitoring/recording and meticulous record keeping in the cardiac catheter laboratory
- Monitoring and recording of intracardiac electrocardiograms during diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures
- Participation in a variety of research studies
Classification for this position will range from Grade 1, Year 1 to Grade 2, Year 4 (depending on experience and qualifications, BA2-BB4: $70,590 to $103,724.40, plus Superannuation).
Your Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification, namely a Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent), or the Mayfield certificate IV (or equivalent) in Cardiology
- Post qualifying clinical experience with demonstrated experience in the performance of resting ECGs, analysis of holter monitor tracings, exercise stress testing
- Demonstrated experience in working with Windows based applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
- Demonstrated commitment to work and contribute as part of a team
- Demonstrated/embedded clinical practice and experience beyond entry-level
- Working towards further post-grad qualifications in the field of echocardiography will be highly regarded

Other Requirements:
