About the Role
These are fixed term positions, either full time or part time in the Emergency Department. The successful applicants will join our existing consultant team to provide leadership, supervision and direct care of patients during a period of disruption in the Emergency Department due to our redevelopment capital works. The positions will be responsible for all patients who present to the Emergency Department and for meeting key performance indicators.
Your skills and experience
- You will possess excellent clinical skills in paediatric emergency medicine, be able to function as part of an emergency team and be committed to the development of paediatric emergency medicine within RCH and more widely.
- Have registration as a specialist medical practitioner with AHPRA and possess a fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, having undergone accredited training in paediatric emergency medicine.
- Have completed specialty training in PEM
- Proven ability to work as a senior paediatric emergency medicine clinician in a high volume high pressure emergency department, with the capacity to make sound, rapid clinical decisions to promote patient access and flow would be advantageous.

About the Emergency Department
The Emergency Department is the busiest paediatric ED in the country and assesses and treats over 90,000 children a year for a range of urgent medical and surgical conditions. Senior staffing includes paediatric emergency medicine specialists and 12 fellows undergoing specific training in paediatric emergency medicine. Together they provide supervision to 30 paediatric and emergency medicine registrars and a further 6 junior doctors. The department has an active education program and plays a major role in national and international paediatric emergency medicine research.

- Compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure
