About the Role:

This is a casual position within the Laboratory Services – Pathology Collection department. You will be responsible for providing collection service for both and inpatients and outpatients at both The Royal Women’s and the Royal Children’s Hospital.  This service also provides a collection service for VCGS and other external Medical practitioners.

 

Classification for this position will range from IN24- IN27 (base salary ranging from $1202.70 to $1368.10 per week, plus Superannuation). 

 

What you’ll achieve:

  • Provide Pathology Collection Services Inpatient and Outpatient at The Royal Children’s Hospital and The Royal Women’s Hospital Parkville
  • Provide child centred, family focused care through partnership with parents/families
  • Actively contribute. as an individual and as a member of a team, to the continuous improvement of health care quality and patient safety

 

Your skills and experience:

  • Certificate III in Pathology Collection
  • Previous  3 experience in Public or Private Pathology Collection desirable but not essential
  • Computer skills – Microsoft Office 365
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Commitment to the job at hand

About the Department:

Pathology Collection is an integral part of Laboratory Services – RCH Pathology.  Pathology collection provides collection service for both and inpatients and outpatients The Royal Women’s and the Royal Children’s Hospital.  It also provides a collection service for VCGS and other external Medical practitioners.

We have 112 hours per fortnight Fixed-Term until 8/12/2026 . This position involves Pathology Collection services as rostered at Royal Children’s and Royal Women’s Hospital Pathology Collection.

Other requirements:

  • Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure

Victorian Department of Health has endorsed the initiative to restructure existing public pathology by bringing together laboratories into pathology networks operating under a lead health service. 

Pathology services from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital will transition to a single pathology service.  This creates an exciting opportunity to strengthen the scope, scale and reach of pathology services across the Parkville precinct to benefit all Victorians.

This role will be part of the new centre of excellence that will be led by Melbourne Health.
