About the role:
This is a part time, 40 hrs/fortnight, permanent position.
The Patient Services Assistant is an effective member of the facility who will be called upon to work in the Wallaby/HITH area. They will work with other staff as required to undertake a range of services which supports the needs of patients, staff and others with regards to the organising and packing of patient supplies, packing of supplies for on road staff and ordering consumables. Ensuring fleet cars are clean and well stocked-with regular reviews with AUM’s/On road staff to ensure in car toolboxes contain adequate stock. The operator is unlikely to have contact with patients and visitors but will be in contact with staff in the hospital and will demonstrate effective inter-personnel skills and an ability to work cooperatively and flexibly to not disrupt the operation of the work unit.
Classification for this position with range from PS21-PS25, Patient Services Assistant Level 1 - Level 5 (FTE base salary $57,002.4 to $60,606 per annum, plus superannuation and salary packaging).

- Knowledge of infection controls principles and procedures

- Previous experience in a hospital setting desirable

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to resolve conflict in a professionally
- Capability to build and maintain good working relationships with a diverse team.

About the department:
Wallaby is the Hospital in the Home ward for RCH. It has a responsibility for providing inpatient care to a wide variety of presentations. There is a mix of providing direct care and centralised management for those out of area patients. The Wallaby Ward is a 61 bed unit that provides medical care and assessment to patients in the community. Wallaby provide multidisciplinary care including nursing, medical and allied health services according to the identified needs of the patient. Services are predominantly provided in the home setting.

- A current, full driver’s licence for the State of Victoria which is appropriate for the type of vehicle being driven, and comply with any restrictions on their licence (e.g. wearing glasses) while undertaking hospital duties (If applicable)
- Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure
