  • Work for Australia's leading Children's Hospital
  • Drive a once-in-a-generation virtual care transformation for kids and families across Victoria
  • Excellent employee benefits including salary packaging

About the Role:

This is a Fixed-Term Full-Time position at 80 hours per fortnight within the Allied and Digital Health Division, funded by the RCH Foundation for 12 months.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) is embarking on an exciting Stage 1 Virtual Care Hub program — a $1.38 million investment to transform how we deliver specialised paediatric care to children and families closer to home. As Project Manager – Virtual Care, you will sit at the intersection of digital innovation, clinical services and consumer experience, leading delivery across three critical workstreams that will lay the foundation for a sustainable, centralised Virtual Care Hub by FY28/29.

You will translate strategic ambition into practical outcomes — improving access, equity and care for children and families across Victoria and beyond.

Classification for this position will range from AO81–AO85, Grade 8 Year 1 to Year 5 (1.0 FTE base salary $155,000–$165,000 per annum, plus superannuation).

What you'll achieve:

  • Plan, manage and deliver the Stage 1 Virtual Care Hub program across all three workstreams within the 18-month grant funding period
  • Coordinate delivery of the RCH Patient Portal optimisation and adoption strategy across Specialist Clinics, including e-consult functionality
  • Lead the scoping and co-design of the Stage 2 Virtual Care Hub operating model, including engagement with government, peer health services and consumer groups
  • Champion co-design with consumers, clinicians and subject matter experts to ensure virtual care models are safe, patient-centred and equitable
  • Track outcomes against KPIs — including appointment DNA rates, waitlist reduction, Patient Portal adoption and e-consult volumes — and prepare high-quality reports for executive and funder review
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including the RCH Foundation, government bodies, clinical divisions and technology partners
  • Support the transition of operational costs to RCH business-as-usual funding by FY28/29

  • Proven ability to engage and influence clinicians, operational leaders and consumers to achieve project outcomes
  • Experience managing grant-funded or time-limited programs, including milestone tracking and budget reporting
  • High-level analytical and communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive-level reports and presentations
  • Commitment to equity, accessibility and patient-centred care, particularly for children and families in rural and regional communities

Highly regarded:

  • Experience in digital health, telehealth or virtual care program delivery
  • Familiarity with the RCH Patient Portal, EMR systems or health information management platforms
  • Knowledge of the Victorian Virtual Care Strategy or National Digital Health Strategy 2023–2028
  • Understanding of co-design, Lean or other continuous improvement methodologies

About the Virtual Care Program:

Virtual care is a strategic priority for RCH, enabling the hospital to deliver specialised paediatric care through telehealth, wearable devices, smartphone apps, digital portals, and AI-enabled tools. The Stage 1 Virtual Care Hub program builds on a series of successful pilots at RCH — including virtual models of care for HITH, Cystic Fibrosis, Complex Asthma and REDCap — and will position RCH as a national leader in paediatric virtual care. This is a genuine opportunity to shape how children and families in Victoria — including those in rural and regional areas — access world-class paediatric care.
