Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.

Cockatoo - Surgical and Neuro Care

Cockatoo - Surgical and Neuro Care Ward cares for patients aged from infancy to adolescence from Victoria, Australia and internationally. The clinical staff provide comprehensive care to patients with neurological,, neurosurgical, metabolic, endocrine and complex gastroenterology and hepatology conditions.

 

The Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that clinical practice and delivery of care is consistent with Royal Childrens Hospital and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia standards. This is done by providing comprehensive, safe, evidence-based practice across a range of contexts, to facilitate optimal health outcomes for our patients. This is an exciting opportunity within the Cockatoo Ward (Surgical and Neuro Care), where you will use your integrated nursing health care knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care. We offer excellent professional development to enhance your nursing practive and conduct comprehensice and systematic nursinig assessments to improve the quality of our nursing care.or care provided in Cockatoo Ward.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Profession al practice Portfolio
  • Flexibility and availability for shifts across wards will be highly valued
  • Acute Nursing Experience
  • Demonstrated paediatric oncology experience would be required
