The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) provides secondary and tertiary care to children and young people across the northern and western suburbs; specialist paediatric healthcare to the children of Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and parts of South Australia; and is the designated state-wide provider of services including paediatric trauma, rehabilitation and forensic medicine. As a quaternary centre for complex cardiac surgery and organ transplantation, the RCH cares for the sickest children from around Australia.

  • Provide urgent medical care to newborns through to adolescents

 

The Role:

The Emergency Department at The Royal Children's Hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing urgent medical care to children and adolescents. The Department sees approximately 88,000 patients each year. 

 

The Department is staffed by medical, nursing, clerical, allied health (eg social work, mental health workers etc) and administrative staff as well as ward services assistants. As a Registered Nurse on the ward you will work collaboratively with this multidisciplinary team. Our clinical area comprises of four Resuscitation rooms, 26 cubicles, four Procedure rooms and is closely associated with the Radiology Department and Dolphin Medical Short Stay. 

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
  • Recent experience in an acute, medical, surgical, and/or speciality area of nursing. 
  • Previous experience in Emergency and/or Paediatrics would be highly regarded.
  • Evidence of on-going professional development as reflected in Professional Practice Portfolio.
