The Role

 

This position within the Dolphin - Medical Short Stay ward will be responsible for ensuring that clinical practice and delivery of care is consistent with RCH and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia standards. You will provide comprehensive, safe, evidence-based practice across a range of contexts, to facilitate optimal health outcomes; performing self- assessment of scope of practice and competence related to assigned responsibilities as discussed with the care delivery team; retaining responsibility for individual actions and accountability for care provided.

 

What you’ll achieve:

  • Fulfil duty of care by practicing within scope of practice in accordance with Australian Nursing & Midwifery Council guidelines
  • Demonstrate analytical skills in assessing and evaluating health information
  • Participate in quality improvement activities
  • Plan nursing care in consultation with others (i.e. multidisciplinary health care team)

 

Classification for this position with range from $71,333.60 to $95,378.40 per annum, plus superannuation

 

Your skills and experience:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Profession al practice Portfolio

Dolphin Ward - Medical Short Stay

 

Dolphin - Medical Short Stay Ward is located adjacent to the Emergency Department (ED) at The Royal Children's Hospital. It cares for children who present to the ED and require care for up to 48 hours. With its streamlined admission and discharge processes, the unit cares for children of all ages, from young children/infants to adolescents, with a range of acute Medical conditions. Conditions treated in Dolphin - Medical Short Stay Ward include asthma, bronchiolitis, constipation, croup, eczema, fever, gastroenteritis, urinary tract infections, anaphylaxis (allergic reactions), migraine, snake bite and viral infections.
