We currently have a number of ongoing employment opportunities for expereinced Registered Nurses to join our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. This is a great opportunity for Expereinced Critical Care Registered Nurses to transition into Pediatric Critical Care through supportive program with a dedicated team. 

The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne is a 22 bedded unit, providing critical care health services to infants, children and adolescents in Victoria and extends to the Southern New South Wales, Tasmania and other states around Australia and overseas.

 

Our PICU services include:

  • Speciality Critical Care Practice for both Medical and Surgical Specilaities
  • Specialist Paediatric Critical Care Trauma Services
  • Pre- and Post-Operative care for Cardiac Surgery including Heart Failure and Transplant
  • Pre- and Post-Operative Care of Organ Transplantation
  • An Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation Service
  • Renowned PICU Research Team

 

PICU offers flexible rostering options, as 12-hour shifts may be available. You will continue to be provided with ongoing support and development within the critical care setting from an experienced Nursing Education and Research team. There are several established pathways to advanced roles within PICU and the RCH offers Post Graduate Nursing Scholarship Program.

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Profession al practice Portfolio.
  • Recent experience in an acute, medical, surgical, and/or speciality area of nursing
  • Minimum of 12 months current experience as a Paediatric Intensive Care Nurse
