About the Role:
The RCH currently have part-time and full-time, ongoing Registered Nurse opportunities available to work across our Day of Surgery Centre and our Possum Ward (Surgical Short Stay Ward).
Internally, this position will be known and referred to as: Registered Nurse - Possum and Day of Surgery.
Classification for this position will be governed by Award 22 - Registered Nurses and depending on experience, will range from YP3 (RN Grade 2, Year 2) - YP9 (RN Grade 2, Year 8) (FTE, pro rata for part-time), plus Superannuation.
About the Departments:
Our Day of Surgery Centre cares for approximately 10,000 children and their families each year. The Possum Ward cares for patients admitted for a wide range of surgical procedures including tonsillectomy, simple fracture setting, arthroscopy, soft tissue wound repair, cleft lip repair, hernia repair, skin grafting and cardiac catheterisation. You will have the opportunity to work with medical, nursing, allied health (eg social work, occupational therapists, physiotherapists etc) and administrative staff in a short stay environment.

What You'll Achieve:
- Undertake comprehensive holistic patient assessments and contributes to the development of care plans, ensuring alignment with best practice and the individual needs of patients and families
- Use critical thinking and analysis to plan evaluate and implement nursing care and undertake interventions that result in positive healthcare outcomes for the patient and their families
- Ensure that educational materials are cognitively and culturally sensitive and tailored to individual patient and family needs
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of nursing practices and patient outcomes
- Provide leadership within the nursing team, fostering a positive and collaborative work culture
Your Skills and Experience:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Recent experience in an acute surgical area of nursing
- Paediatric experience is desirable
- Evidence of ongoing professional development as reflected in Professional Practice Portfolio

Other Requirements:
- Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure
