About SASH Support Service

Support after Sexual Harm (SASH) is a specialist sexual assault service, based in community sites in Western Melbourne and at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

SASH provides:

  1. Sexual Assault Crisis Response  for children following sexual harm (recent experience or disclosure) and their families. This support is face-to-face and provided 24/7 at the RCH.
  2. Counselling  for children living in metro west Melbourne who have experienced sexual harm or engaged in harmful sexual behaviour and their families.
  3. Consultation and professional education to enhance capacity, confidence and capability in the community for the safety, rights and recovery of children after sexual harm.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Clinician, you will be responsible for providing advanced clinical practice within a trauma model of recovery for children and young people who have experienced sexual harm, and their family members. Beyond direct clinical counselling work, you will also be responsible for:

  • providing high quality clinical supervision to team members
  • contributing to SASH’s Intake function supporting access to our service for those who need help the most
  • receiving and responding to referrals for service,
  • providing professional secondary consultation regarding child sexual abuse and harmful sexual behaviour to community agencies
  • providing sexual assault crisis responses

This role also requires you to participate in the after-hours sexual assault crisis response roster.  

 

The Impact You’ll Make

 

With the support of SASH’s multidisciplinary team you will actively assist children, young people and their families to recover from the impact of sexual harm and promote the rights of children and young people impacted by sexual harm. You will achieve this through:

 

  • Provision of advanced practice, evidence-based assessment and therapeutic interventions to children and young people from a trauma focused model of recovery
  • Professional development and wellbeing of clinicians by providing specialist sexual assault clinical supervision, mentoring and informal support.
  • Collaborative relationships with external partners to maximise access, service coordination and opportunities for joint initiatives in the community.

 

Classification for this position will range from Psychologist Grade 3, Year 1 to Year 4 (PL1 – PL4), Social Worker Grade 3, Year 1 to Year 4 (SC31 – SC34), Occupational Therapist Grade 3 Year 1 to Year 4 (VG3 – VG6) or, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Grade 4 Year 1 to Year 3 (NP75 – NP77).

 

What you’ll bring to the SASH Team:

  • Recognised qualification in relevant discipline and current registration with relevant AHPRA Board and/or eligibility for membership with professional body
  • Experience in the provision of clinical supervision 
  • Ability to provide advanced practice counselling and support, risk assessment and therapeutic service to children and young people.
