Sleep Scientist

About the Role:

This is a Permanent Part-Time position, consisting of 39 hours per fortnight, comprising two overnight shifts per fortnight (one 9.5-hour shift and one 10-hour shift) within the Respiratory & Sleep Medicine Department.

 

You will be responsible for:
As a Grade 2 Sleep Scientist (Overnight Shift), you will be responsible for the safe and effective overnight monitoring of paediatric sleep studies conducted on the wards and in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The role focuses on maintaining high-quality physiological signals, troubleshooting technical and physiological issues, and titrating CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen during sleep studies according to established protocols.

Classification: RY4–RY7 (base salary $94,478.80 to $106,906.80 per annum pro-rata, plus superannuation).

Your skills and experience:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Science or equivalent, where equivalent includes a degree awarded by an overseas tertiary intuition which is recognised by the national office of overseas skills is mandatory
  • Significant experience working in a paediatric sleep unit and/or significant ventilation experience working with CPAP and BiPAP ventilation
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within paediatric or youth health service

About the Department:

The Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine is a friendly and supportive group of medical, allied health and administrative staff who deliver high level care to children with often very complex respiratory and sleep conditions. The sleep service offers polysomnography to complex paediatric patients and includes a neonatal sleep unit as well as a respiratory support service.
