The Opportunity
- Grade 2 Level vacancy
- Part-Time Fixed-Term Parental Leave Cover | 37.5 hours per fortnight (0.5EFT)

As a core member of the multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for providing psychosocial assessments and interventions for families and children requiring care at the Royal Children’s Hospital. This includes providing services to families experiencing a new diagnosis, chronic illness, trauma, family violence, bereavement, social issues impacting on the child’s wellbeing and family functioning, parenting difficulties, psychological health issues, child behavioural issues and a broad range of social support issues.
The impact you'll make:

Provide high quality clinical care to children and families presenting to RCH with a broad range of complex medical and psychosocial needs

Contribute to timely decision making, transition or discharge planning and referral to community providers

Support and counselling for vulnerable children and families in crisis situations including trauma, family violence, grief and loss

Engage in quality improvement to enhance existing Social Work services to patients and families
Classification for this position will range from SC21 - SC24 Grade 2 Year 1 to Year 4
Your skills and experience:

Social Work Degree from an accredited University/Course
-
Eligibility for membership of AASW and meet AASW CPE accreditation standards

Clinical experience recognised in related field of practice

Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

About the Department:
The RCH Social Work Department is a growing team with over 65 employees and is one of the largest Allied Health team at RCH. Social workers work in collaboration with Medical, Nursing and Allied Health staff across the hospital as well as provide community liaison to ensure delivery of great psychosocial care for patients and families.
