Virtual Care Analyst (EMR/Platforms)

About the Role:
These are Fixed-Term Full-Time position at 80 hours per fortnight within the Allied and Digital Health Division, funded by the RCH Foundation for 18 months.
The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) is building the RCH Virtual Care Hub — a $1.38 million RCH Foundation-funded program to transform how we deliver specialised paediatric care to children and families closer to home. As a Virtual Care Analyst, you will be at the hands-on heart of this delivery — configuring, testing and deploying virtual care capabilities that will directly improve how children and families across Victoria access care, including those in rural and regional communities.
Working within a collaborative program team alongside the Virtual Care Senior Analyst Lead, Director Virtual Care and Project Manager, you will bring clinical workflows to life through the RCH Patient Portal — building telehealth appointment workflows, GP e-consult tools, remote monitoring modules and patient-facing digital features.
Classification for this position will range from AO71–AO75, Grade 7 Year 1 to Year 5 (1.0 FTE base salary $125,000–$140,000 per annum, plus superannuation).
What you'll achieve:
- Configure, build, test and deploy virtual care capabilities within the RCH Patient Portal — including virtual specialist clinic appointments, GP e-consult workflows, pre-visit questionnaires, remote symptom monitoring modules and automated escalation pathways
- Analyse clinical workflows and develop functional solutions that reflect a deep understanding of user requirements
- Monitor, investigate and resolve incidents and service requests related to virtual care platforms, providing responsive day-to-day support to clinical teams
- Coordinate review and deployment of platform updates and upgrades, including release note reviews, build, testing and identification of training impacts
- Facilitate end-user workshops and software demonstrations to gather workflow requirements and inform design decisions
- Support end-user adoption, delivering virtual care platform training to clinical staff — including telehealth tools, Patient Portal features and remote monitoring workflows
- Maintain accurate system, training and support documentation for all virtual care platform configurations
- Support data collection against program KPIs (Patient Portal adoption, e-consult volumes, appointment DNA rates) to underpin grant acquittal reporting

Your skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Health Informatics, Information Technology or a related field, and/or relevant industry experience in a digital health or ICT role
- Demonstrated experience in the configuration, build and support of enterprise digital health platforms or information systems
- Experience working in or alongside healthcare services, with an understanding of clinical workflows and patient-centred care principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical and user-facing documentation
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and manage competing priorities in a fast-moving program environment
Highly regarded:
- Experience with Epic EMR, Epic MyChart or the RCH Patient Portal (or equivalent consumer-facing digital health platform)
- Epic certification or equivalent EMR experience (minimum 1–2 years)
- Experience in telehealth platform support, remote monitoring tools or virtual care program delivery
- Familiarity with HL7, FHIR or other health data interoperability standards
- Experience delivering training to clinical end users in a hospital environment
- Knowledge of the Victorian Virtual Care Strategy or National Digital Health Strategy 2023–2028

Virtual care is a strategic priority for RCH, enabling the hospital to extend specialised paediatric expertise beyond its walls through telehealth, wearable devices, smartphone apps, digital portals and AI-enabled tools. The Stage 1 Virtual Care Hub builds on a proven series of successful RCH pilots — including virtual models of care for Hospital in the Home, Cystic Fibrosis remote monitoring and Complex Asthma management — and will embed virtual care as routine practice across Specialist Clinics and beyond.
