About The Role:
This is a Permanent, Part Time position at 38 hours per fortnight within the Wadja Aboriginal Family Place/Division of Medicine.
The Wadja Administration Officer role supports the delivery of holistic and culturally safe care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and their families. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team—including Aboriginal Case Managers and Paediatricians—the Administration role assists in the coordination of the weekly Wadja Health Clinic, which provides comprehensive medical, social and developmental assessments for children, young people and their families.
You’ll be part of a team committed to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal communities, working in a supportive environment that values cultural safety and collaboration.
Classification for this position will range from Community Development Worker Class 2B Year 1 – Year 4 (XX7 – XX10) (FTE base salary $83,434.00 to $91,390.00 per annum, plus superannuation).
What you'll achieve:
- Support culturally safe access by identifying and addressing barriers for Aboriginal children, young people and families engaging with RCH, the Wadja Aboriginal Family Place and the Wadja Health Clinic.ommitment to improving the health of Aboriginal children and families
- Work collaboratively with the Wadja Director, Aboriginal Case Managers, Paediatricians and RCH departments to ensure care reflects the cultural, social and medical needs of Aboriginal patients.Experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to improve the health of Aboriginal children, young people and families
- Coordinate referrals and clinic operations, including triaging new referrals, maintaining accurate EMR information and managing all appointment processes such as scheduling, reminders, cancellations and non‑attendance follow‑up.Demonstrated ability to build and maintain working relationships with colleagues, to maximise service coordination and cooperation and clinical outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people and families
- Provide administrative and clinical support by preparing documentation for weekly clinical review meetings and ensuring correspondence, referrals and records are processed according to RCH requirements.A flexible and adaptable approach to functioning in a team environment that enhances the team's high performance and the ability to work independently as required
- Maintain administrative systems and contribute to continuous improvement, including managing invoices, patient statistics, educational materials and participating in cultural activities, advisory meetings and ongoing professional development.Excellent interpersonal, communication and advocacy skills
Your skills and experience:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal culture, values, and history, and an understanding of social and transgenerational issues impacting Aboriginal health and well-being
- Experience working with Aboriginal children, young people, and/or families, with a focus on culturally safe and inclusive practice
- Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and community to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people, and families
- Relevant professional experience in Aboriginal health care or Aboriginal child and family services (highly desirable)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills, with the ability to work flexibly and independently within a multidisciplinary team
