The Opportunity:

This is a 6 month fixed term, part time position at 32 hours per fortnight within the Royal Children's Hospital's acute adolescent ward. For more about Banksia, please see here

You will be responsible for:

  • triaging and completing assessments before admission for those referred and accepted during clinical hours (8.30am-5pm, Mon-Fri)
  • managing in-hours admissions in coordination with the Banksia interdisciplinary team
  • working closely with Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and the Emergency Department to ensure timely access to the ward
  • improving communication and support between the RCH Emergency Department and Banksia Ward.

 

Classification for this position will range from NP75 - NP77 under the relevant EBA

Your skills and experience: 

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP)
  • Postgraduate diploma in psychiatric/mental health nursing or completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program
  •  Demonstrated leadership experience
