About the Role:

This is a part-time, fixed term position at 25.84 hours per fortnight until 28/5/2027 working as an Occupational Therapist within the Victorian Paediatric Palliative Care Program (VPPCP) at The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH), one of Australia's leading paediatric health service. You will be working with a highly respected specialist paediatric palliative care service, supporting children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families across Victoria. This role offers the unique opportunity to provide expert, compassionate care while collaborating with healthcare teams across hospital, home and community settings.

 

Internally, this position will be known and/or referred to as: Occupational Therapist (Grade 2).

The successful candidate will be appointed from VF6 (Grade 2, Year 1) to VF9 (Grade 2, Year 4), FTE base salary $90,235.60 - $103,724.40 per annum, pro rata for part-time, plus superannuation). 

                                                                                              

What You'll Achieve:

In this position you will deliver specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention that optimises comfort, participation, mobility, independence and quality of life for children receiving palliative care. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert consultation, clinical reasoning and collaborative care planning to families and healthcare professionals

 

Your Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Occupational Therapy qualification eligible for AHPRA registration
  • Post-graduate clinical experience with demonstrated practice beyond entry level
  • Strong clinical assessment, reasoning and communication skills
  • A commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork and family-centred care

Highly regarded:

  • Experience in palliative care
  • Experience in paediatric healthcare
  • Experience working in acute or tertiary hospital settings
  • Experience supervising students or junior clinician

The Occupational Therapy department is within the Division of Allied and Digital Health. We provide inpatient and outpatient services for infants, children, adolescents with a wide range of medical conditions. Other Requirements:

  • Recognised graduate-entry qualification in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate)  
  • Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure
