About  SASH 

SASH is a department of the Royal Children’s Hospital and a specialist sexual assault service. 

SASH provides: 

  1. Sexual Assault Crisis Response for children following sexual harm (recent experience or disclosure) and their families. This support is face-to-face and provided 24/7 at RCH.  
  2. Counselling for children living in metro west Melbourne who have experienced sexual harm or engaged in harmful sexual behaviour and their families.  
  3. Consultation and professional education to enhance capacity, confidence and capability in the community for the safety, rights and recovery of children after sexual harm. 

 Services are provided at community-based sites in Western Melbourne and at the RCH. 

 

About the Role

You will be responsible for performing a broad range of clinical support and administrative duties, involving a high level of interaction with children and their families and various staff and professionals within and outside the organisation. This role is integral in supporting efficient and timely access to specialist therapeutic sexual assault support services for children and their families, and promoting a child-centred, family focused approach to all phases of intervention at SASH. The role will also support the leadership team with administrative and clinical quality improvement projects to optimise client care and experience.

 

The Impact You’ll Make

 

With the ongoing support of SASH’s multidisciplinary team you will actively assist children, young people and their families to recover from the impact of sexual harm and promote the rights of children and young people impacted by sexual harm. You will achieve this through:

  • Successfully support eligible children and families to access specialist sexual assault service.
  • Interact positively with children, young people, families and RCH staff and clinicians.
  • Ensure ongoing excellence in service delivery by active contribution to continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Classification for this position will be Allied Health Assistant, Grade 2 (IN29) from the Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers Enterprise Agreement.

 

What You'll Bring to the Role:

  • Previous experience in an allied health assistant role, or related health fields
  • Formal qualification in allied health assistance or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with databases and health record management and booking systems is desirable.
