Clinical Educator - Occupational Therapy (Mental Health)

Part-time, ongoing 0.4 EFT - 30.4 hours per fortnight

This position will be expected to work across mutliple sites
About the Role:
You will be responsible for providing clinical education and professional development to all Mental Health Clinicians with an Occupational Therapy background with a particular focus on supporting Grade 1 clinicians in the service. You will foster skill development in assessment, therapy and case management for consumers aged 0–11-year-old and their families who are receiving care in one of the tertiary level teams or at the Brimbank Melton Infant, Child and Family Health and Wellbeing Local. You will also model and support the provision of discipline specific Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions offered in the department.
More broadly you will form part of the department’s training and development team along with clinical educators from other disciplines to coordinate and contribute to the service’s professional development needs and activities.
Classification for this position:
Grade 4 Clinical Educator (YB28)
To be successful in this role you will have:

Demonstrated clinical skills and significant experience in the provision of effective and efficient care in a Child and Adolescent/Youth Mental Health Service

Demonstrated experience in leadership and professional supervision of Occupational Therapy clinicians and students

A commitment and evidence of evidence-based practice and continuing professional development including an ability to find and apply evidence in decision-making

Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and inter-personal skills
-
Publication experience in peer reviewed journals and at relevant conferences
-
Demonstrated awareness and understanding of legal obligations when working in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service context in Victoria
Your skills and experience:
Essential:
- Hold an OT degree qualification or equivalent from an accredited course / university
- Be registered with AHPRA and as such have satisfied the requirements of continuing professional development and recency of practice
- Uphold the Code of Ethics, OT Australia
Desirable:
- Minimum 10 years post-graduate experience in health or related field
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and behaviours in successfully leading staff/teams and/or change initiatives through project work
- Completion of the Developmental Psychiatry Course (DPC) and/or post-graduate training in Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health
About the Department
RCH Mental Health is a Level 5 tertiary Infant, Child and Family Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service and comprises community and hospital-based services. This includes an Intake and Assessment Team, Adolescent Inpatient Unit and various specialist teams based at Parkville and three interdisciplinary outpatient teams located at Travancore, St Albans and Hoppers Crossing. We also service the Brimbank Melton Infant, Child and Family Health and Wellbeing Local which is a Level 4 service that works in conjunction with partner agencies in their locality.
