Clinical Nurse Consultant (YPHS)

About the Role

This is a part time fixed term position to cover Long Service Leave for 6 months ( Dec 2025 – May 2026) at 30.4 hours per fortnight within the Department of Adolescent Medicine, Young People’s Health Service. YPHS is a nurse-led primary health care service that aims to advance the health of young people, this position is offsite to RCH and is located in the CBD.

You will be responsible for providing comprehensive care, support and guidance to young adults who marginalised and are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Classification for this position is Clinical Nurse Consultant A-B (ZF4-ZJ4) ($113,360 - $119,329.60)

What you’ll achieve:

  • Provide expert clinical knowledge and skills, in the assessment and management of patients within area of specialisation
  • Stay updated on current research, trends and advancement in nursing practice to enhance clinical knowledge and inform evidence-based care decisions
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary meetings, working groups and committees to contribute nursing perspectives and advocate for patient centred care
  • Facilitate the provision of relevant education and information to empower young people as partners in their care  

 

Your skills and experience

Essential

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP)
  • Post graduate qualification in the area of practice (or willing to work towards)
  • Experience in Adolescent, young adult &/or community health nursing

Desirable

  • Experience in audit / quality improvement / projects
  • Accreditation as a Nurse Immuniser
  • Experience in sexual and reproductive health nursing

About the Department

The Department of Adolescent Medicine provides care and management to adolescents and their families via a range of specialist multidisciplinary services including the Gender Service, Eating Disorders Service, Chronic Illness Peer Support (ChIPS), Young People’s Health Services and inpatient and outpatient medical service
