The Role:
We are currently seeking a permanent part time ESO/Driver to work 60hrs per fortnight - 6 hour shifts, 5 days per week - Monday to Friday (30 hours per week) - working hours between 8.30am to 5pm (some flexibility required)
You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring appropriate standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout the facilities of the RCH Mental Health Travancore campus, consistent with Infection Control guidelines, policy and according to Cleaning Standards for Victorian Health Facilities (commercial or medical cleaning experience is required)
- Conduct timely courier/driving services across the Royal Children’s Hospital mental health office locations in a safe and timely manner (training will be provided for this work)
Your well-developed written and verbal communication skills combined with your interpersonal skills are required to work within a team environment. Your customer focus, initiative and attention to detail will enable you to provide a high-level service to consumers, families and RCH staff.
Classification for this position will be JJ9 - $53,508.00 per annum pro rata, plus superannuation.
What you’ll achieve:
- Cleaning internal buildings and external areas in accordance with the cleaning standards for Victorian health facilities. This includes but not limited to:
- Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, wiping down surfaces, using of industrial chemicals and equipment, rubbish removal, cleaning of bathroom amenities and kitchen area, ordering of cleaning stock, maintain cleaning equipment, some cleaning of outdoor areas is required
- Vehicle transportation of RCH equipment and maintenance of courier fleet car
- Driving an automatic company fleet vehicle between our mental health outpatient sites and other supplier locations as required
- Transporting of items across these sites including – mail, stores items, medical records, computer equipment and other items as required

- Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with a diverse team
Your skills and experience
- Demonstrated experience in commercial or hospital environment (essential). This is an office environment (non-clinical) and not located at the main hospital building
- Knowledge and experience of infection control principles and procedures and the ability to safely handle commercial chemicals (essential)
- A clean and current full drivers’ licence for the State of Victoria (up to 1.25 tonnes) – (essential)
- Basic computer skills, well developed written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide great customer service (essential)
- Ability to work closely with other Environmental Service Officers, sharing the workload and effectively communicate to achieve results

About the Department
RCH Mental Health comprises hospital-based (Parkville) and community services. This includes three multidisciplinary outpatient teams which are based at Travancore, Sunshine/Brimbank and Tarneit.
